We are enjoying this month’s weather, before the heat of the summer settles in here in the Rio Grande Valley on the Mexican border. This reminds us of the weather in Guatemala, the land of Eternal Spring! Speaking of Guatemala, we are looking forward to a short trip at the end of this month to attend the Global Mission Conference at SETECA, where we ministered for so many years. I wrote the theme song for the conference, so they asked that I also be there to lead it. It is based on John 1:9-12. We will also be there in Patzicia with Kike, for the dedication of our former student’s own home, which he is already planning to use for his ministry. We will be his first house guests!
Praise the Lord for safety of our students and staff mission teams who went to Mexico doing ministry during Easter week. The border cities are sometimes the scenes of violence, and the teams encountered no problems, but came back praising the Lord for the power of God in changed lives!
Here’s a family note. Our daughter-in-law Angela Blycker (Ben’s wife) has written a book for disciplining women. You might want to check it out at AngelaBlycker.com entitled “Running into Water: In the Pursuit of God.” You can get it at Amazon.com…we think it’s terrific!
Thanks so much for your prayers for my recovery from the operation in January for a herniated disc in my lower neck. I am totally free of those aggravating pains, PTL.
The first quarter of this year we had the privilege of being near to daily encourage our dear friend and colleague of over 40 years, Daniel Kendal, a fellow CAM missionary, as he was hospitalized in January and in March passed away from inoperable tumors. Arleen was able to find housing for all the missionaries, family members, and friends, (some whom Dan had led to the Lord) who came for the funeral. She knew Dan’s favorite instrument was the violin so she organized a string trio prelude for the hour visitation time before the funeral. One of Dan’s grandsons was part of the trio! He usually introduced me as “Phil is the brother I never had”. I emceed the memorial service, per Dan’s wishes. I also led the hymn singing at the graveside with my trumpet. It was a joyous farewell, but we do miss him. Pray for his wife Beverly.
Thank you for praying and giving to our ministry here at RGBI. We are working hard on music for the Spring Music Recital. Pray for the more than $1,000 monthly support that we need. We understand everyone is struggling. However, our God is an awesome God!
