Weddings: Victor, who is planting a church in a dangerous area in nearby Reynosa, Mexico just married a consecrated Christian girl from Southern Mexico. Rogelio just announced his engagement to the daughter of long-time pastor Guadalupe in Chiapas (near Guatemala) whose ministry is among indigenous people lately persecuted by both religious and political enemies of the Gospel. David, another former student who is presently serving on the missions faculty, announced his engagement to Natalie from Chile, South America.
Thanks for praying for the nine mission trips and musical groups who ministered this past summer in the USA, Canada, Cuba, Spain, India, North Africa, the Middle East, Paraguay and the Philippines. It was so exciting to see the videos and hear their testimonies in chapel.
Our biggest family news is that our great-granddaughter Vera Lynn Abigail Wi was born in Roseburg, OR on Aug. 31. We are so blessed! Pray for her parents, Noah & Kaeley.
This coming Lord’s Day, we will begin the Adult S. S. class playing and singing a Spanish hymn we wrote regarding the names and attributes of the third person of the Holy Trinity, “Santo Espíritu, Excelsa Paloma (“Holy Spirit, from Heaven Descended”). That’s the theme for the next two months; our Mexican teacher Antonio wants it sung weekly in the class.
We asked you to pray for our annual ministry at Music Camp in Mexico. It was a great success. At the final concert (under a huge circus tent over the basketball court) all our students played or sang. We enjoyed the handbell choir, concert band, percussion ensemble, string orchestra that played the “Hallelujah Chorus” and the gigantic mixed choir that sang 6 arrangements including two written and directed by Phil. Please enjoy their picture!
There were several specific answers to prayer during music camp. One young man asked for prayer for his brother back home suffering from a life-threatening disease. An hour later his mom called saying their M.D. had just pronounced his brother totally healed. Another was that one of Arleen’s cello students’ aunt was recently kidnapped with a large ransom demanded. Soon after that prayer was made she was released unharmed with no payment made. PTL!
Please pray for our classes and our student’s ministries in the fall semester at Rio Grande Bible College. Thanks so much for your prayers and offerings that enable us to continue serving God as His ambassadors here on the Mexican border.
In the service of the King,
