This spring semester we have 78 students studying in the Bible Institute and are particularly happy to have our first African student. Oscar Mba Nkuya (his two surnames come from his mother and from his father) arrived with a huge smile from Equatorial Guinea, the only Spanish-speaking country in that continent. There are 38 people studying Spanish in the Missionary Language School here on the Mexican border at RGBI. This is the last month that over 100 enthusiastic Winter Workers will be busy on campus doing everything from carpentry, painting, electrical, masonry, paving, to sewing, quilting, gardening and English tutoring. Perhaps there’s a place for you? Would you please pray God’s blessing on these three groups?
Praise the Lord who opened up a wonderful opportunity to purchase a 3-bedroom brick house—so for the first time in our married life, we are home owners. We would love to have you stop by and see us some time! We already have had visitors staying with us from several states and foreign countries. It is only a six-minute drive to the seminary.
Our project of recording all of my over 150 original songs and hymns in Spanish is moving along. I have finished all the keyboard accompaniments and we are up to 100 with guitar fill-in. Soon we will do the vocals. Pray for us. There are many obstacles in the road to producing these CDs. Also, pray for the concurrent project of publishing the music and words which is moving along very slowly but surely.
This semester I am again teaching in the Night School and have several students who have “been there and done that” in music, but never really learned how to read musical notation. It is so exciting to see them develop that skill which will enable them to tackle new music and to arrange music that they are presenting in their local churches. Thanks for your prayers.
A number of our students are planning on going on mission trips during the Easter break. Please pray for those going to three places in Mexico and Texas. Also, please remember the students that are preparing to minister the Word of God in Spain and India next summer.
Please remember to pray for the administration and faculty at the Rio Grande Bible Institute on the Mexican border where we presently serve our great God and Savior, as well as the expanding ministry of the Christian radio station located on our campus. Finally, please remember to ask the Lord to continue to supply our monthly support needs; we continue to be about 18% under supported. Several individuals have recently begun to send monthly support and some churches have increased their giving for which we are very grateful. We love you and appreciate your interest in our lives and ministry.
Your musical ambassadors for Jesus Christ,
Phil and Arleen
