We had a great Music Camp in Valsequillo, Puebla, Mexico this year. There were several students among the 130 campers that attended that did not have a personal relationship with Christ, and at least one young lady accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Several local pastors preached at chapel time and one was our missionary son Tim. He had two powerful presentations that impacted the young campers. Pray that these students will be able to be a great help in the praise and worship in their home churches and continue to grow in their walk with God.
I had the privilege of directing three Old Testament hymns that I had composed/arranged for His glory. One singer had a Roman Catholic background and stated that the words seemed unbiblical in that the 10 commandments that he had learned in catechism did not mention a prohibition from adoring images. Another student, a girl, shared the fact that she was learning so much from the Word of God that her church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, did not teach and she was excited to see what the Bible actually taught.
About 130 sang in the camp choir, 40 participated in the guitar ensemble and 22 in the orchestra of strings that played some lovely hymn arrangements. Many studied the piano. I had 2 trumpet students; one played a hymn arrangement and the other practiced the Concerto for 2 trumpets by Antonio Vivaldi with me but performed Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday at the recital.
Our son Ben and his wife Angela just had a baby girl in Naples, FL. Arleen was there to help out and the new Blycker grandchild is named Kiersta Linnea and is doing just fine. Both Ben and Angela have Swedish blood so that’s why the baby’s brothers also have Nordic names: Lars and Anders.
We have 109 students enrolled in the Rio Grande Bible Institute for the 2009-2010 school year from many different Latin countries. Muchas gracias (many thanks) for your prayers and gifts to continue this international ministry.
Psalm 29:2–Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.
